I do not live in Competa, just have friends living there.

I do not think it is a good place to be if you cannot drive. 

There are no large supermarkets, our friends go down to the coastal area for major shops.

We have not seen any buses but I have just done a quick Google Search and there is one to Seyalonga and the hospital.

We don’t live in Cómpeta either , but are regular visitors .

There is a regular bus service from Canillas to Malaga via Cómpeta , Sayalonga , Algarrobo and Torrox Costa , where there is a bus station where you can change for other destinations. 

While there is no hypermarket , there are several supermarkets. In the past we have found the Coviran at the top of the village to be excellent. They deliver ( no charge ) to anywhere in the village very quickly , including to houses like the one we stay in , which has no car access . Even gas bottles come on the back of a motorised bike . You have to be careful - if you don’t say you are stopping up there for a coffee or a glass of wine , your delivery will be at home before you are ! There are at least three other supermarkets in the village . The Spanish word supermercado does not indicate a shop the size of Tesco . That’s a hipermercado. There’s one of those , an Eroski , down towards the coast , but better to buy local , we think .
