It’s my own fault

I’ve avoided Santander for a over decade because of their small print deposit rate notice terms and conditions and often unwarranted deposit pricing back at home

I had ordered a taxi from Alora Town Hall to the airport. I had cash but not enough for the journey. I didn’t know if the driver accepted card payments so I thought it best to use the adjacent Santander ATM to withdraw 50€

Santander charged me 7€ - the equivalent of a 14% commission. I use a Monzo cash card whose FX rate is as close to the MasterCard spot rate as can be

In other ATM transactions during the preceding two months, vending bank ATM commissions never exceeded 2€ and more often than not were c. 1,80€

Maybe it’s lightweight and incestuous operational and other senior management believe that it’s huge losses can be reversed by sundry folk waiting for taxis

In my opinion the 90% reduction in Santander’s Cap Value over the last year is well warranted.

perhaps with BREXIT and the UK banks situation its time for everyone to reappraise our choice of bank

if its any comfort in the UK the sitution is pretty bad on the banking side With COVID 19 the banks are saying they are supporting evryone -well the nationwide (a so called mutual)is paying a meagre interest rate on large deposits and charging39%on overdrafts -and there are others !!

perhaps look at caxton fx  cards?
