Hi, I'm in the process of sending some personal effect to my holiday home in Spain. They are mainly used artists paints and materials, clothes and household ceramics and books, all used.
They're packed into cardboard boxes. Do I have to describe every item in each box in addition to each box weight and value. And how do I put a value on used paints that are over 2/3 years old etc.

We just moved from Glasgow to Algarrobo.
For the type of goods you described, I recommend using an experienced removals company which accepts part loads like Mercia Movers. When they pack the cartons they keep an inventory for you. They also advise how to declare for Customs and the values. It's quite simple.
I also used an Excess Baggage company which was cheaper but more hassle
