I don't know if you intend to apply for residencia when you come but a word of warning. Many private health insurance schemes have a co-insurance. This does not satisfy the requirement for application for residencia, which is to have coverage which provides at least the same cover as provided by the Spanish National Health Service. You will need a private health insurance with no co-payments. I believe that Sanitas, which is a member of BUPA, provides such a policy but the price will depend upon your personal circumstances. They have offices throughout Spain.

Hi John,

As Mike said you must get fully comprehensive, no deductive, health insurance for Residencia. I personally found Sanitas very expensive because I think they play on that they have English speaking reps.  There are less expensive insurance companies. And there are many of them.  I am with Aegon but I would suggest perhaps talking to a few and getting quotes.  Usually you will have to talk to a Nurse over the phone to get the quote and it all depends on your specific situation of course.  Once with an insurance company you can select from many different health centres in your area.  Good luck!  Kerri

Holly,  It appears that you are trying to push Sanitas for some reason.  This Forum is for people helping people with their own personal experiences.
