Morning.  Currently living in Javea I am looking to returning to the Costa del Sol, but Nerja this time.  I haven't had any problems with the hospital or salud here (except for one unfriendly receptionist) so I would like to hear thoughts on Velez Malaga hospital and the Nerja salud.  Generally, not just during covid as those were exceptional times.  I'm a fit 77 year old.

One of the reasons for my move is the humidity up here which is really bad and when I stay in Nerja it's much better.   I check el Tiempo every day!  Any thoughts on that one too.

Very many thanks for your time.

I think you might be disappointed, right now the moisture in the air greater in the South. I just did a check Dew Point at Malaga Airport very high 23C - Alicante 17C - (10C is ideal over 15 starts to get sticky). Note humidity only tells you the percentage of moisture in the air, not the volume, why pilots need to use for flying. To make simple if states 50% humidity it would be the same for half a bucket of water and half a wine glass. Some phones show Dew Point now. Normally the further inland away from sea the lower the Dew Point. Seville now 31°C = 88°F, dew point is only 16°C = 61°F. https://www.bigorre.org/aero/meteo/lezl/en  Granada in Land Low Now 13C but when look up Nerja can give inland Granada, however, on site Nerja states 72 F which is a pretty soggy 22.2C  https://www.wunderground.com/weather/es/nerja

Take care where you choose. Good luck. Enjoy Video. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dew+point

Thank you. That was fascinating and certainly kept my brain moving. I just look on el Tiempo and news rtve.  However, sorry to sound feeble but maybe you can clarify the heat index.   On el Tiempo it gives the temperature and then the heat index ie 29 deg  and, some days, it  'feels like'  36!  Each day I check Nerja and Marbella, where my son is, and the 29 often 'feels like' 30.      We can often have humidity at 85/90 here overnight.

I am doing my research ie reading local news and will move to Nerja at sometime as I think it's a lovely town, not to mention it's near my grandchildren.   Looking forward very much to my trip back down in November as the weather will allow for long walks, hopefully.

Many thanks again for your time.

"maybe you can clarify the heat index"

The heat index comes from the Dew Point. what I was trying to explain, relative humidity does not tell you how warm you will feel, it's just a percentage, so if I said, you can have 10% of a cake, it's meaningless without know how big the cake ! So the amount of water in the air comes from the The Dew point and that's how they calculate the heat index. The pure humidity reading not very useful at all. Simple Video below.

Today in Malaga horrible, Dew Point 20C - Temp 27C - so feels like 31C -  Again heat index from the Dew Point
