How to buy bread flours & yeasts
We just bought a house in Algarrobo and I finally found my bread maker amongst the removal cartons!
Where can I buy the Spanish equivalent of flours, yeast and improvers I used in UK?
Thanks

Google tranlate helped me with Plain Flour and Self Raising Flour . Worth a try. Cheers Ian Part time Almogia.

Thanks - I bought some from Russell's yesterday to get me going!
However, I'm keen to move to Spanish flours available at more reasonable prices if I can find a guide to equivalents. Local bakeries have great quality bread, so any pointers to the right flours/yeasts would be appreciated

Cant speak for Velez Malaga, but our local Mercadona stocks strong white (harina de fuerta), wholemeal (Integral) and spelt(espelta) four plus dried or fresh yeast. I think all the main supermarkets stock flour and dried yeast.

I second that! They have great products in pretty much any supermarket. Don't pay extra in some UK store, it can't possibly be worth it.

Many thanks for the pointers - I'll be in my local Mercadona later this week. I've only been shopping there for seven months, but I now understand their slightly chaotic product layouts enough to track down your suggestions.
While researching Spanish bread ingredients I came across The Fresh Loaf website, a treasure trove of recipes and links to Spanish suppliers. This site has a home delivery option from Pepe La Sal for all sorts of speciality goodies including flours etc.

Oh, fantastic, I had forgotten about The Fresh Loaf, used to go there a lot before. Thanks for the tip! I also didn't know the whereabouts of Velez-Malaga and had to look it up. It looks absolutely stunning! Looks like Pepe y sal are around Alicante though. It'll be too far for delivery. If you pass by Benalmadena at times I can recommend Pan Deluxe which has fantastic artisan bread, you would love it. :)
