I arrived in Spain to retire  in July of this year. I hired a car (from the UK) and had it for 1 week.

I needed to purchase a car and have heard of all sorts of pitfalls when buy from private individuals.

I was recommended by my estate agent to speak to a guy called John, who operates his own car sales company (John Larkham Car Sales). He operates in the Malaga region and has many contacts. I went to see him and he not only helped me to buy a car - but he handled all of the paperwork for me. I came away with a good car, fully insured ITV'd (MOT) with 12 month warranty. He organised all of my paperwork for me and I recently received all my documents back including ownership, MOT and Full insurance (including breakdown). The reason the paperwork took so long was that the Vehicle registration department in Madrid - close down for around 6 weeks during the August holiday period.

I would definitely recommend him. You will find his advertisement on the Internet. The best thing about him - he is English and very friendly.
