Organic produce and other food items

Hi,

There's loads of organic produce here, most of the big supermarkets have an extensive range, and many of the small local ones have something - although not always in the fresh produce. Once you get to know local people, you might ask if you can buy produce from their campos, too. It's very easy to eat well here!

Thanks for the encouragement, Pricklyone. I wonder if you might be able to suggest particular stores, not only for produce but also other organic items like grains, beans, nuts and seeds, breads and pasta, etc. Are there "natural food" stores in the Nerja area? Which supermarkets carry organic produce regularly? I shopped at several Mercadona and Supersol locations, as well as the Lidl in Torrox, but found very little. I guess I'll find out when I get there, but a little direction would help me get started. Thanks!

I don't live in Nerja, and rarely visit but, as I recall, there are many specialist shops in and around.

I saw your post today, and although it was a while ago was wondering if you had any success finding Organic produce, grass-fed meats, grains, etc. I have relocated to the area and seeking the same. Would appreciate any advice you could give.

As a matter of fact, there is an excellent organic store on the road between Nerja and Frigiliana just north of the autovia, run by the Maharshi Ayurveda organization (TM). No grass-fed meats, of course, since they're vegetarian, but an excellent assortment of ecological fruits and vegetables, some of it grown on their own finca, plus dried goods like grains, beans, and breads, oils, vinegars etc, and even their own homemade live sauerkraut.
