Hello.

Does anyone know the arrangements for applying for Spanish Residency after Brexit.

I have an S1 form. I have a Padron certificate.

My Lawyer tells me I have to apply to the Spanish Consulate in the UK.

Any information would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm

I found out last week that you have to apply for your visa in the uk before you can apply for it in Spain. However I have been informed by a lawyer here in the UK that the Spanish Embassy is closed at the moment and they don't know when  it will be open.  It can take 30 days to 3 months to obtain your visa. The cost for the visa was £516.00 and the lawyers costs were approx £1700.00 if I went through them to process my application and you have to apply in person. They are very strict with what information they require. Not sure if you are in Spain at the moment so it could be a different procedure for you.

I'm trying to find out as much information as possible before I jump straight in.  I was hoping to retire to Spain but feeling totally frustrated with all the new legal stuff.

Regards

Denise
