We have read about a lot of break-ins in Malaga area properties, can anyone tell us if that is also the same for residential caravan sites.

I think that anywhere in the world where people are struggling with poverty, break ins will be higher.  I also think that the news media looks for fear mongering stories as click bait.  I find it very safe in Spain (well Malaga Province where I live) comparatively speaking.  If you take proper precaution, know your neighbours and are fortunate to live in a nice area then you should not have to unduly worry about break-ins.

Also do not act like a tourist with alot of disposable income. I think this is common sense behavior to avoid attracting the attention of struggling people who might be pushed to the edge of society with unmet needs.

I would also expect Caravan sites contain people who really look out for each other but you know it only takes one situation to knock a good thing off its perch.

Just my view and experience here.

Hi, I agree with what Kerri has said.

I had my own UK car security business and came across many break- in stories.

There is a common practice to follow to avoid break ins.

Thieves are cowards, so make your property and possessions so they cannot steal quickly and without making a noise.

Also don't leave valuable items they can grab quickly in full view.

Good additional points to always keep in mind Chris.  Even though I live in a very safe place I always put my shutters down at night as a precaution because it would make alot of noise should anyone attempt entry.  Even though so very unlikely its worth the few extra minutes each night to do it.

I also do not leave things in my car, even old running shoes - always put them in the boot.  Having come from Vancouver Canada where car breaks have been at historic numbers for decades I learned this lesson.

Thanks,

I belive its best to get your property alarmed or have cctv if possible a deterrent is better than nothing.
