For those who have been on a desert island or just obliterated the see saw of GB /EU negotiations  you will be pleased to know a DEAL HAS NOW BEEN AGREED prior to being ratified by the various parties

I,m trying to dicipher the principal parts and wonder how they willaffect us in spain

? exchange of Data between DGV and DVLA??

Exchange of security information on criminals etc ??

??affect on the GBP/euro exchange rate

Banking ??

Although the CBI and others are relieved to at least have a deal but so late in the day -the issue will be in the detail!!

I am English and a Spanish resident who is in possession of a state medical health card. However, I am concerned about my adult children/friends visiting and their medical position.

Has the EHIC been withdrawn ? Will holidaymaker/ 2nd homeowners really have to rely on medical insurance which doesn’t cover existing conditions.

I am sure in the UK, all foreigners will be medically treated for free. Does anyone know the future position in Spain.

Thank you and A Very Happy New Year....inclusive of Vaccines for us All xx

Hi Alicia, I’m certain that I read that U.K. will still pay for medical treatment for British whilst on holiday in E.U. countries for the duration of the holiday. Hope this helps.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Though, I heard Michael Gove, today, saying that anyone going to Europe must take out comprehension insurance.

Perhaps, it is still to be sorted. Spain can’t afford 2nd homeowners to stay away.

Hi, All. Happy New Year.

I have found out the answer to my own question. It was not widely available, either. Holidaymakers and 2nd home owners can use their current EHIC for any treatment required in Spain, until the card’s expiry date. In the meantime, they are required to apply for the new card G( global) HIC which, apparently, will cover you in the same way.

I hope this helps, as I know my UK friends/family were worrying about it.
