Replace the Harddrive with a SSD and perhaps even add memory
Crucial website is excellent for imputing your MacBook details and it will give you their SSD and Ram for the specific MacBook
I upgraded my MacBook Pro 2012 with a Samsung SSD and upgraded the ram and its like having a new MacBook
The price of SSD and Ram is much cheaper than it used to be and of course a better option than just buying a newer model
