Hi, I am coming to Andalusia in January for 3 months and hopefully much longer if it works out (I have sorted out a non-lucrative visa).I will base myself in and around one of the major towns i.e. Estepona, Marbella, Malaga, Nerja, Murcia. Does anyone know of the following: a health club like David Lloyd in the UK, with gym, pool, sauna, steam and tennis; jive/rock and roll events and tuition; spanish language tuition or groups of Brits that meet to practice their Spanish.

Anything else I should consider or know.

All input gratefully received.

Thank you.

John

There is a leisure centre connected to a hotel between Marbella and Calahonda called Dona Lola ! Hope that helps ! If you are a Christian there is a church in Marbella we attend called Cristo del Calvario. I am not sure about someone to help learn the language but sure there would be lots of help on Google or other members of the forum would help but lots of lack of water problems at the moment which I am sure will improve at some point. Thanks Julie

Hi John

That’s great you are making a move and seriously considering all these things.  I can only speak for Estepona as we moved here two years ago.  All you ask for is available and a lot more. The public swimming pool has a sauna etc. The town has various tennis / paddle courts and recreation areas.  Spanish classes are easily available.  My only caution is please rent for at least three months and then decide.  Happy to meet for coffee / chat when you arrive. Alan

I think you need to establish which place you want to rent in as there is quite a range - maybe idealista.com is a good place to start

it depends on your budget ,preference coast, inland ,city life etc

I would say that exactly what happened in Uk has now happening here with people from inland ie Madrid ,Cordoba etc now moving here and working from home and taking train etc to office as and when so places like malaga ,rincon de la Victoria have increased in sale /rental due to rail ,plane infrastructure

I live in Benajarafe but seriously think Torre del mar is worth looking at and offers all you are looking for yet the mediterranean highway or bus gets you to nerja ,malaga, airport easy

it also has a great vibe and people are always pleasant  there -great beaches, restaurants ,entertainment etc -see their Facebook
