I personally live in Sitio de Calahonda, in Mijas Costa, near La Cala de Mijas and Marbella. Lots of expats and business near with english speaking staff. I moved from Madrid some years ago and in my personal experience, this area was my perfect decision.

As I know all Costa del Sol areas, Yunquera is a beautiful and quiet place to live near "Parque Natural Sierra de las Nieves", if you are a "Nature lover", for sure you will enjoy this place.

Casares is also a beautiful area, has the best of the beach and inland near Estepona. Check out the page I added before for more information. There are also lots of New Developments in Casares in case you want to live near the nature or beach but will all the comfort of new build homes. If you want something more authentic and cheaper check for resales properties, sure you'll find something affordable.

We are going to view two properties one in Yunquera. This village we haven’t visited.

Also one in Iznate we have visited this village before.

We want to embrace the Spanish culture that’s why we would prefer a village life.

We are trying to learn Spanish which has been a struggle for us.

Is a beautiful place to live, do not misunderstand me hahaha.

I personally think that Álora or even Casarabonela have more things to offer than Yunquera, and also both are near the Coast and Málaga International Airport, in case you want to make a trip or your family or friends come to see you!

But this is my personal opinion! I was looking for a different place and ambient!

Hi Paul, not sure if you are asking me if I live in Casares but yes I do.  I live just off the Pueblo (Village) on the side of a mountain.  There is also Casares down on the coast but I like it up here in the mountains.  Its a short 10 minute walk into the Village.

Learning Spanish is a huge struggle for most people who have spent their entire lives speaking English.  There is far too much thinking that this will be an easy thing to accomplish (I myself did - LOL).  I just remind myself that learning a language is a terrific way to create new synapses in the brain and thus hold off dementia so I carry on as best I can.  :)

Hope you find your dream home.

Kerri
