Hi. I moved to Yunquera 2 weeks ago. I'm struggling to find out how to get internet to my house. The house is in the campo just blow the church. The house does have telephone sockets so I'm guessing they are/were connected.

My Spanish at the moment is almost zero. I do intend to learn!

I've been into the Movistar shop on the Main Street and they just said 'not possible'.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Chas

Hi Scott,

I moved to Spain almost a year ago now. I used a guy called Michael who runs an internet business in Malaga called FOBOS TELECOM.

We do not have a telephone line. Instead, he installed a very small satellite dish which is how we get our internet, plus - of course a small hub. The installation cost around 115 Euros and we pay 42.35 Euros per month including taxes. I know you can probably get it slightly cheaper, but it is a good service and we have only ever been without the internet on one occasion last winter during a very bad storm. He got us up and running again in no time. We have since moved to Competa (a mountainous town) and he moved our installation for us within a few days of asking. You do, however, have to pay by direct debit each month.

I am afraid that I am not allowed to put his telephone number on this website, but I am sure if you look up fobostelecom.com, on the internet (if you can somehow get it) you should find his telephone number there - although I do not know if he covers your area.

Good Luck

Chas

Thanks Chas!

It's all a bit daunting moving countries then moving way out in the sticks on your own! Well not quite alone, but my dog is as bad as me when it comes to anything internet related😂

Nice to know there's good people out there to give advice👍🏼

I'll look up your contact. Thank you.

Scott.
