Well my dear friends on Velez Forum, Myself and my wife went to visit our house in Velez Malaga, Historical Quarter after spending 3 x days at Hotel Dila whilst waiting for our double bed to arrive. A couple of Hiccups, On Saturday 19th Feb 2022 we arranged for a delivery of a double bed we bought on Marketplace Spain, the couple live in Antequera aprox 50 x minutes drive from Velez Historical quarter.

We received a call from them saying all roads nearby were closed by the police for the local Carnival which we didn't know about until we went to the top of the street near the Muvvel Museo, the guy met us on foot and said he would send his Spanish friend on Monday, his Spanish friend turned up on Monday after getting lost, but ayy ho We had a bed to sleep on.

Hiccup no2 when we went in the House the Electric was off, I checked the fuses inside, they were all on.

I phoned Angela our estate agent and some one from her shop  phoned ENSESA  and Endesa said the electric was not cut off, she also set up a direct debit for us. I looked inside the meter box on the wall outside and noticed a large fuse holder was open with no fuse in it, Angela said have a good look around the house in the drawers and cupboards, I looked in the drawers of a wall unit which was left by the ex owner and found 2 x large fuses, I put a fuse in the fuse holder, and closed the holder,  the meter was off so I clicked on a yellow button and the meter and electric to the. house came on "Thank God" we now have Electric, Hiccup no3 No gas bottle for the water heater, Angela the estate agent went to get some gas from a local Repsol gas station, but had an appointment somewhere, I looked on Google how to connect a Gas Bottle to a water heater, I tried this and tried igniting the boiler with a button on the boiler, made sure the gas valve was upright, tried cleaning the metal part with a needle, tried to ignite with a match to no avail, So Ayy Oh No Hot Water, We didn't let this spoil our holiday we bought a new kettle and Boiled the kettle and used shower gel to wash in the morning and in the evening. We had some nice weather for the 10 x days we were in Velez, planning on going again in September, probably best to get a new water boiler as the boiler looks quite old, We only found out I have a contract with Endesa when we went to get the House keys from my Lawyer, I have tried to activate an online CLIENTE ACCOUNT but cant activate it, I have phoned several contact numbers and eventually got through to a Spanish guy who spoke very little English (Un Poco) I have since sent an e-mail with a picture of my contract, might get a reply in a month fingers crossed.

Lets hope our next trip to the house is less stressful.

Warm Regards

Steve & Bev

Hi guys , I just had to message you as j have had so many hiccups too.  I thought it was just me.  I have spent 6 days trying to pay my Water bill.  I also paid Endesa almost 600 euros for electricity (when flat was empty and unused, we were in Scotland  during Lockdown .  They cut off electricity  it took another  week to get it on .  I am demented.  So anytime you feel like a rant ,  I am here  anytime. 😂😂😂  I still love it and it is all worth it.   Good luck. Jean and Ronnie  👍👍👍

Hi.

Thanks for your kind reply, sounds like a nightmare, my water is supplied by Aquilia, my Lawyer sorted out change over which cost me 124€  my bills fluctuate on average, 18/20 euros monthly.

I ended up signing up another contract with Endesa, the one I got from my Lawyer was only information, I have signed up for the ONE LUZ tariff, just waiting for contract to be confirmed etc I hope I don't get a bill like yours, as my house is empty, just using as Holiday Home for now, Hope you get you water sorted out, take care Steve n Beb 👍

Hi Steve,

I don´t know if you are aware that your gas boiler/heater needs to be checked every two years. There should be a sticker on the boiler somewhere with the company that did the last check and a date. Contact them. They will come and make sure it is working alright and that it is still save to use.

Kind regards

Thanks for your kind reply, I don't remember seeing a sticker when I was there in February, I know the gas tube as a date and supposed to change every 5 years the date on my rubber tube is 2019 so in date. I will look when we go again  in September, probably needs a good service, it looks quite old.

Many Thanks

Steve 😀
