Yes if there is damage, you have to pay & then recover from your insurer. If you know that & budget for it, you avoid very expensive insurance from the Car Hire Co. 

No, the Car Hire Co does not charge the deposit to your card, at least the Co I use does not. 

What they do is "Pre-Authorise" the deposit, i.e. check that your card is good for the deposit amount. This does not appear on my card statement & I have never been charged interest.

Of course it depend on which Car Hire Co you use, and the quality of your credit card provider

Yes you are probably right on that particular car hire company, so to avoid trawling through every different car hire company's small print, just pay the extra insurance, and have peace of mind 😎

I highly recommend Maria at Ace Car Rental, we have used her for years, will be again in October. You meet her in the car park opposite the terminal, it’s a 10 minute meeting, no hanging about in queues, you return the car with the same level of fuel, there’s no inspection with a fine tooth comb when you get back! 

I always use malaga car. Never been ripped off. Get half a tank of fuel, return it empty.never pressured for their insurances. I buy an annual european car insurance policy for £40 a year. Malagacar accept the policy. 

Defo recommended in my experience. I also get discount of 13% as a return customer.
