Exchanging Driving Licenses
We’re moving to Spain from Portugal on 21st June and I have a Portuguese license and a Portuguese van.
With Portugal being an EU country, is it straightforward to exchange for a Spanish license.
I am now seventy-one and would normally have had to renew next year in Portugal, subject to a doctor’s all clear. Is it the same in Spain?
Regarding the vehicle. I’ve got two choices.
1. Buy a Spanish one and drive the Portuguese one back to sell there.
2. Get a Spanish gestor to change all the documentation over to Spanish number plates.
The question is, which option is the least hassle and the cheapest in the long run?
We lived in Spain between 2007 and 2010 and converted a U.K. VW Transporter to Spanish plates, but remember the process was quite expensive.
Anyone’s advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.
