Hi there,

I am about to renew my health insurace and am thinking of changing to another provider. I am with previson medica and it is a nightmare to get an appointment and I have to go to Antequerra to see a doctor.

Does anyone have health insurance where you can see a doctor near to Trabuco with ease?  Im probably asking the imposible, but I thought I would ask.

Many thanks

Sandra

Hi,

Thanks very much. Do you have to travel far to see a doctor?

hi

The problem is, I am not in your area and I am trying to find a clinic that is near to me. Thank you for your reply though.

I am considering going down the convenio especial route. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

BEST is to find an insurance broker that speaks English and can arrange health insurance for you.  Some agents only represent on insurer but others can source the best one for you.  There are alot of things to consider and its easy to fall afoul of the details.

Also please be careful when cancelling your insurance.  if you do not follow the correct guidelines and requirements you can be sued for what they say you owe.  I know from personal experience this hurts some.

You should be able to find insurance where there are a number of clinics and hospitals you can attend.  I do not live in your area but my insurance is taken all over here in this area.

Good luck.

Do you mean pay into the National Health system?  If so, I would not recommend it except as an adjunct to Private Healthcare.  Even the Spanish have private healthcare if they can afford it.  The National Health system may have services for things you pay for on Private though.  For example I had to have injections in my knee and although the Doctor was covered along with the MRI on Private, the injections themselves were not.  On Public Health the whole lot were likely covered so everything is a weigh up against your health conditions and ability to pay one way or the other.

No easy answers regarding healthcare anywhere in the world these days unless money is no issue.

The health system in Spain, as most national services has been under pressure (COVID)  & I know people with extremely long waits to get things done.(Sometimes can mean a long journey to reach the right facilities) I have an S1 and covered here by NHS, so far only either paid to see a GP or used Sanitas whose clinics have been outstanding. Private care in Spain is very good and cheap compared to the UK, BUPA/Sanitas is 'one third of the costs for the same UK', a private GP visit here can be just 60 Euro, compared to £200 in the London area. Brokers can always find a cheaper deal for basic cover, but people need to check what clinics the insurer owns & the quality of service.
