Hi

I have fallen in love with this town and can't wait to come over to view properties in August. Last night, whilst googling Trabuco, I come across the posts about the flash floods. Is this anything to worry about? Was it just a one-off or does that happen frequently?

Many thanks

Sandra and Neil

We hope it was a one off as we have a holiday home in the village. We have been told by lots of locals that extensive work has been carried out in the village since the floods.

Gail,

Thank you for that information. I can't wait to come over and have a look. Is it a nice village to live in all year round? Is there anything i should know before buying there?

many thanks

We love it. Everything is here or within easy reach of the village. We are only here 6 months of the year as winter nights are very cold. Days are warm & sunny but as soon as that sun goes down so does the temperature.  Friends have log fires or pellet burners, makes it very cosy. Are you relocating or just visiting?

Hi there,

When it rains in Spain, it blimmin' well rains. Torrential, like stair rods. When the ground is dry this means the water doesn't soak in, and this can lead to localised flooding, as well as slippage of topsoil. It's one of the features of living here, and can be unpredictable, I'm afraid. But, many built-up areas are improving their flood defences these days and mostly, it's not as bad as it could be, or used to be. Good luck getting a place, it's a fab area and you'll enjoy just looking!

Hi, we bought in Trabuco at the end of last year. We saw the video on the floods too - once in 100 years episode we were told. It didnt put us off. We love it. There is everything you could wish for in the town and just on the doorstep you have wonderful places to visit. Hope you find somewhere to buy.

HI all,

Thank you all for your kind words. If we buy in August, we will be living in Spain after Christmas or soon after depending on how much we have to pay for the property!  The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned!

Good luck. Hope you find what your looking for. Not all the houses for sale are with agents. Just walk around the village & you'll see more houses for sale. In the campo it's a bit more difficult. FB page "Buy and sell Villanueva del Trabuco" worth putting an advert on. Good Luck
