Thinking about long term rent!

Hi we've moved to torrox 2 months ago  husband 67 me 60  Theresa lot of british here  we rent 2 bed in mountain but only 20 minutes from sea  we went though agent in torrox competa agents   do as we did come for holiday and see what you think

I live in Torrox pueblo, and love it. But, it's not for everyone. As said earlier, why don't you come over for a couple of weeks and travel around to find what works best for you? There's so many variables, and it's so personal, it's hard to say to someone what is right for them. For example, I would not live on the other side of Malaga, it's not my kind of thing and I rarely visit apart from going to IKEA or seeing a friend who has a place in Benalmadena. But, it's a very popular part of Spain with British people so, there has to be a lot going for it.

If you don’t mind me asking is rent high or low and what is cost of living like compared to uk?

I have about €2,000 per month of disposable income but that needs to cover rent and all bills including shopping and perhaps running a small car

Our rent is )500  the electric is 50 euros. Food is  a bit cheaper then unless you buy branded UK food that's a lot more expensive. To eat out tapas for 2 of us is about 10 euros. a three course meal. is around 10 to 12 euros each. Including drinks . Our internet is 25 euros a month  we've found it cheaper here including everything then it is in UK    food much with everything

I live on considerably less than that, and don't feel I am missing out at all. I don't run a car, though - it depends whereabouts in Torrox you are living but, in the pueblo it can be a bit of a pain, as parking by houses is often impossible! There's an excellent bus service, and good cheap car hire places if I need some independent wheels. As said before, most things are much cheaper here, especially if you cook for yourself more than eat out. Produce is generally of very high quality.

You do need to factor in health insurance, though. Without getting too hung up on what happens after October 31st, you will need some sort of cover, even just a low level, as the EHIC (while it lasts) only covers emergenct treatment and not extras like physio, for example. Mine is cheap, though.

I don't think you'll struggle living here! It's great.

We too are renting in Torrox Costa for the winter months we arrive in November, we rented through Air b&b  it's excellent.....good luck k Anne and Malcolm.
