Hi Everyone,

I am buying a property in Torrox. It comes with the traditional  Spanish furniture ( dark brown varnished  with inlay ). Which I will keep. But I want to get rid of the old mattresses.

Where can I buy new ones and more importantly how do I get rid of the old ones properly?

Thanks,

R\ayK.

Hi there,

Do you have a car? If so, there's a place just as you leave Torrox from the top of the village, on the way to the BP garage. You can legally put mattresses there.

As for new ones, there's a furniture and fabric shop on the costa, by the roundabout at the top of Av del Faro, that sells mattresses, and they also deliver. However, there is parking space out the back (although only for short visits). The shop is very helpful, though, and everything is good quality.

Good luck with everything!

Hi Isobel,

Thanks for the information about the furniture and fabric shop at Av del Faro. I will visit it when i finally visit Torrox.

Unfortunately I don't have a car, does the local council  have a collection service  for household furniture etc for a charge?

Regards,

RayK

Ah, I don't know about them collecting. I have seen mattresses by the bins in the pueblo, where normal rubbish is put, and they seem to be collected in the night without any fuss. In all honesty, I suspect that, as long as you don't dump stuff in the countryside, they don't seem to mind if you use the general rubbish. I'll ask around and let you know.

Thank Isobel for looking into this for me,

I don't want to dump old mattresses in the street as my first act of  introducing myself to my neighbours in Torrox.

But if there is a more environmentally friendly way to do it  that may involve a cost I don't mind.

Regards,

RayK.
