Hi 08

We have a finca in the mountains half an hour inland from Marbella and drive down from the northern Spanish ports twice a year. We avoid Madrid and go via Valadolid, Salamanca and Seville.  All dual carriageway roads, toll free and by UK standards, very quiet. It takes us about 10.5 hours (generally sticking to the speed limit) with a couple of comfort breaks. The only city we actually have to drive through is Seville, but if you have a satnav, it's not too bad.

Also, take into account your time of arrival in Spain.  We prefer to land about midday and do the majority of the journey in daylight.

Weve never done an overnight stop so cannot advise on that.

Have fun

J

Only you can answer whether you can drive for 11 hours in one go. We live in Torrox and have several times traveled from Santander in one go. We aim for an evening or late afternoon arrival and travel overnight - Madrid is no problem in the evening.Take drinks and snacks with you. I should add I am 72 years old but very confident driving.
