Hi

We are spending 5 weeks in Torrox with our dog.we have booked a healthcare certificate + rabies /tapeworm treatment to travel to Spain from Uk. On return we are unsure of what is required to come back to UK am l correct in thinking you need to see a vet in Spain for another check to return. Anyone with information on this process l would be pleased for your help

Thankyou in advance

Hello. Having just got back from Torrox a few weeks ago with two dogs to uk, all you need to do is to get your dog tapeworm with a vet within 5 days of your entry to uk. I took my dogs to vet 2 days before entry to uk. I also managed to get them a Spanish passport for when I return to Spain with them I don’t have to go through the procedure and massive expense of getting a health certificate.  As long as they have had their rabies jab on the Spanish passport, I can enter Spain freely without all the extra expenses. Good luck.

Hi Rosie

Thankyou so much for your advise. We were hoping to spend Apr/May in Torrox area but because of all the changes and the cost to take ourdog with us we have put it on hold.We were told by our Dogsitter in the UK it is better to apply for an EU passport (she is just going through the process now to come back home from Spain) she has a property out there. Once you have an EU passport how long does it last ? Thankyou again for your reply. We spent a week in Nerja in January looking at areas we were interested in, Torrox Pueblo might be a little quiet for us, but again Nerja was quiet so I don’t think we saw places at there best. I would appreciate any help/advise you can pass on to us .ie journey down to Spain. We thought best option was going Portsmouth/Bilbao. I would appreciate your views We are a young couple in our early 60’s. Look forward to hearing from you

We’ve been going to Torrox for the last 10 years and like it very much. We take the ferry to Santander or Bilbao and then stop off in an amazing  friendly hotel near Burgos. We drive to Torrox the next day .. about 6 hours.  We are in Torrox costa penoncillo. European dog passport lasts forever.. but it has to be acquired in an EU country.

Hi,

Can anyone advise. I am a non resident of Spain and drive to Spain with my dog. I have to go through the process of obtaining a AHC every time I travel.

Could I obtain a pet passport from a spainish vet whilst in Spain.

Thank you.
