Residencia application in Torremolinos
Hello, my first post, and quite a lengthy one.
My wife and I are moving to Torremolinos in February. Initially we will rent a holiday place for 1 month before, hopefully, finding a long term rental. Our main concern relates to the residence process. I am 64, a UK citizen and my wife is 49, an Argentine citizen. We want to apply for residency on the basis of being self sufficient but are concerned about the income level to satisfy the requirement. I will apply first after the 90 day period expires and my teachers' pension should be sufficient for me to meet the rule ( although regional differences make even that unclear). When I get my State Pension in September, we should be ok to have my wife apply for her residence. We will use EHIC cards for the first 90 days and then have private cover for 3 months until I get my S1 form in September. How does that seem so far?
At what point do I need to open a Spanish bank account and show that the cost of the accom etc are being made from that. It seems that in some areas that has to be done for a few months before applying for residency but what is the position in Torremolinos?
My wife is a native Spanish speaker and is an English teacher in Argentina. She would eventually like to restart teaching English, preferably to adults on a private basis. She would also be able to teach Spanish to say Brits at whatever level they wanted. I too can teach English if required,I have a TEFL qualification although my main teaching area was economics. With respect to my wife, how soon could she start to advertise for students, before or after her residency application?
I guess all this comes across as overthinking but I'm really trying to be as prepared as possible. Each time we think we are sorted, another potential difficulty pops up. Any potential contacts/gestors etc would be useful as would any examples of basic private medical care costs.
I'll stop now!
