Hi, we will be flying back to Belfast from Malaga and per the nidirect website it states:

"The test must:

meet performance standards of greater than or equal to 97 per cent specificity, greater than or equal to 80 per cent sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/mlthis could include tests such as:a nucleic acid test, including a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or derivative techno...

...logies, including loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) testsan antigen test, such as a test from a lateral flow device"Can we get the lateral flow test and results just before our flight or is this something that is done in advance? If we can get it done just before our flight, can you let me know if i can book in advance?
Thanks

Hi

You can get a lateral flow antigen test, at Malaga Airport before the flight, for Euro 24. You should book in advance.

You also need to purchase Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests before you depart to the UK. Best prices seem to be through Ryanair and EasyJet at £60 per test ie £120.

Best regards

Hi

The PCR test should be £43 which would be £86 for Day 2 and Day 8, however, Ryanair only offer an 'Amber Travel Pack' for £129 which includes a pre-departure PCR test which you are unlikely to be able to use before boarding the flight at Malage . . . .

There is a 'Green Travel Pack' for £86 which includes a pre-departure PCR test and Day 2 PCR test. You should be able to use this on Day 2 and Day 8, however, I imagine that there is a real risk that some jobsworth at Malage will not let you board because you did not buy a Day 2 and Day 8 PCR test . . . .

You dont actually need a PCR test to fly, I got the Antigen / rapid flow test at Malaga airport for £22 and it was fine, I boarded my Ryanair flight with no problems last Friday 11th June,

I understand that the lateral flow antigen test is sufficient before you board, however, my understanding is that you have to purchase the Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests, before you fly and, if you do not, then you may be refused boarding.

Are you saying that, in your case, you were not asked to show that you had paid for the Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests?

Yes you are correct, I booked and paid for the 2 PCR tests for day 2 and day 8 before I boarded the flight, this is a requirement

We booked a day 2 and day 8 test with Eurofins for both of us at a cost of £197.00. It is now day 19 since we returned from Spain, and only yesterday we received just one test result back from day 2. I have written to Eurofins for a refund. Who betting I don't get one!!!!! This is truly a total rip off and these people are making a lot of money prompted by the goverment, its an utter disgrace and they should be held to account for their actions.

Hello Josie

No tests needed to go into Spain. Only the SpTH locator form needs to be completed.
