Local response to tourists

No, not to my knowledge. You'll be alright. There is not so much foreign tourism here that it warrants protests. Mostly Spanish people who have second homes. Just come and enjoy.

P. S. You might not know that we have a severe water shortage here. Because of that, the beach showers are not in operation and the water is turned off overnight in many areas. So please don't waste water, turn your tap off while brushing your teeths and be generally very aware of your usage. Us locals have to  live with the consequences, if too much water gets used over the summer. 🙂

Update - there have been protests in Malaga city but the problems with short term - ie Airbnb etc have been more acute  But Torre del mar is not an issue 

Interesting how the protests forget how many internal holiday makers use short term lets or the Spanish second homes  which are in abundance Now the infrastructure ie trains , planes etc are more improved then short breaks are easier from Madrid Córdoba etc 

Plus post covid people from inland have decided to work from home and relocate ( as in Uk)
