EASYJET -denied boarding due to their misinterpretation of Passenger location form

My friend flew back to take up new employment in the UK -unfortunately easyJet denied him boarding and his own explanation gives concern
he managed to book a flight via madrid to get to uk and keep current PCR tests and booked tests in UK
"Arrived at airport 2 hours before the flight was due and joined one of the three queues at the EasyJet check-in desks for the flight to Luton.
I very slowly, moved forward towards the front of the queue, each customer seemed to be taking about 15 mins to process. I assumed this was because of the new travel requirements and witnessed three or four people being turned away, some angry some seemed resigned to their fate, personally I didn't feel worried as I had my negative PCR test, I had booked my 2 x quarantine PCR tests with one of government approved suppliers and filled in my UK government passenger location form with no problems and had the completed documents as a pdf files on my phone.
As I drew closer the the front of the queue I noticed an EasyJet employee making his way through the queues with a clipboard, checking people's documents against a document on that clipboard.
After almost two hours in the queue, When eventually he approached me I had already opened the passenger location form on my phone, again I assumed this was what he wanted to see and was correct.
He compared my document with his copy and informed me that the reference no. for my pre-booked quarantine PCR tests was wrong and should be a seven digit alphanumeric no. and I would not be allowed to board the flight, he was not prepared to discuss it further as these were his instructions.
The flight was already late and boarding had commenced.
I proceeded to E-mail two of my friends one of whom A had paid for the flight the other,B who had organised the 2 x quarantine PCR tests from the government approved supplier.B managed to get through a managing director of the PCR testing company who explained that the government had requested that all test suppliers change their reference no. to a seven digit number but they had until the 31/03/21
That day was 20/03/21
He duly sent me a new no. I refilled the passenger location form at the government website, by this time the flight had departed.
Without me."
Apparently there were a lot of people caught out on this digital code and easyJet were dismissive saying he was a no show but the hold luggage was booked in and the problem was with EASYJET
