Shoddy garage Work

I'm looking for something similar to the Citizens Advice Bureau. I need legal advice without having to mortgage my house to get it.
I've been through the local town hall route but seems all they do is pass my complaint to the garage and then pass the reply from the garage back to me without taking any action what so ever.
I've tried discussing the problem with the garage but I just get stonewalled so now legal action seems the only solution.
All and any help will be appreciated.
