Help. we've had the usual bbc packet since over 14 years. It runs over a sat dish. Three days ago we lost the signal.I've double checked all cables but all looks fine.We also have German TV which is still showing. When the guy from "Sky Digital Spain" installed it, he told us the BBC operates on a special code which maybe changed in the future! If that happens, we'd need to find out the new code! Has this also happened to any of you out there? Any suggestions will be very welcome!

I was not aware you could still get BBC on Sat in Southern Spain, however, I did see this in link https://www.satandpcguy.com/2024/03/25/the-end-of-bbc-sd-channels-on-satellite/

You might have to change to an internet service, for which apart from the internet you need an Amazon Fire Stick into an HDMI socket TV what's called a VPN service to show your location in UK, plus a UK address to register iPlayer.

The above is free apart from the VPN service. https://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en_US/vpn-server/vpn-spain

Below a pay TV service which includes VPN  - Works well for many, but not guarantied long term as unofficial service.

Teeveeing - Enjoy TV-ing Abroad. TV for Expats & Travellers.

Good morning to you,

Thanks so much for your response to my cry for help!

Yes, untill last Wednesday we've had sat tv. Wr are based between San Pedro and Estepona. our 80inch dish faces Estepona.

Maybe the dish signal has now been switched off, but, we can't be the only ones experiencing this!

We have DIGI internet from my mobile. The tv is a philips.Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have Google play.I can't seem to download apps i.e Teeveeing or any VPN to get the English stations there. Is the Amazon stick simple to use? For me, it needs to be.

Thank you again,

Gomer

Yes, I am located near Pizarra, 30klm  North of Malaga. Our satellite TV (Astra2) went down about 3-4 days ago. We've had it for many years, but I understand  its no longer operating, but no official information, nor any information in the spanish / English papers. We are using Filmon and casting it to TV. I think the English Newspapers  should provide information  and stay on the matter. Our satellite  dish cost us a fortune,  now its waste scrap.

I have been using an android TV box for years to receive UK tv they are available on Amazon and electronics stores. I installed the teeveeing app which works very well.  I get 36 UK tv channels and catchup for around €80 per annum.  The teeveeing app has built-in VPN too.

You need an hdmi  plug in called screen mirroring it plugs into the back of your TV. The TV must have a HDMI socket at the back of the TV. If you do not have any HDMI sockets in the back of your TV, then you must buy a new TV with hdmI sockets.

I downloaded the teeveeing app onto my android tv box which is connected to the tv via HDMI cable.

I've also downloaded it onto my Galaxy tab which can cast onto my Smart tv.

Is your android box broadband or WiFi. ? I only have Wifi. I can caste Filmon from my Samsung phone because it has a built in cast to tv, but I cannot cast from my Samsung tablet. My TV does not allow me to download casting apps. So I'm using an old Samsung phone to cast Filmon to a hdmi screen mirroring plug in. Luckily, my TV has 3 hdmi  inputs.

My android box is connected directly into the broadband and TV. It can be connected via WiFi if required. There are plenty of casting app on Google play. My Galaxy tab has it built in.
