I suggest you go to the Tenencia office in Sabinillas. It is on the main road near La Noria. You can register for the padron there. I think you will need your NIE document and proof of your address, eg a utility bill. Years ago the Ayuntamiento offered free Spanish lessons which were held in the Multiusos building in Sabinillas. Ask at the Tenencia office if they still do. The man in the office speaks English.

Sorry, whilst I am correct about registering for the padron at the Tenencia office, I didn't see that you were talking about residencia which is different from the padron. You may need residencia before you can register on the padron. If you are going to live here permanently then you will need to register on the padron to get access to schools and the Spanish health service. There are two firms of lawyers in Sabinillas, Manilva Solicitors, just past Supersol on the road to Manilva, and one on the corner of the main road with shops near the Pronto Pollo shop (look up for the sign Abogados). (There may be others.) Both speak English. I think they can deal with residencia for you.

I only WISH the government would provide free Spanish lessons.  I think it would help everyone. But they do not.  There are lessons available privately and through the local "council".  I have tried both and found both difficult.  They go so fast so be prepared before you start or you will throw your money away and increase your frustration trying to keep up.  Kids will pick the language up quickly so probably an app would work for them.  Also an app will give you a head start before you start the classes.

For a local lawyer you can try Jose M. Lopez-Avalos, Director, Manilva Solicitors.  Very reasonable and helpful.

Good luck,

Kerri
