You can use UK licence for 6 months, people still hope UK and Spain will do a deal, as of now need a new test, unless from countries below, Brits count for little now and check with an accountant your tax status, before you move & get the timing right, they back date your tax to the 1st of January, Tax free allowance is very low and includes pensions unless a civil servant and then taxed in UK.

Andorra, Algeria, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Croatia, Ecuador, Japan, Morocco, Peru, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Switzerland, Uruguay , Venezuela, Brazil, El Salvador, the Philippines, Guatemala, Serbia, Turkey, Tunisia and Ukraine.

Hi David,

I am not going to pretend I know all the rules on driving licences, I was resident when I applied for Spanish Licence. Just note it took 6 months to arrive. We had a local (San Luis de Sabinillas) spanish legal do it all for us and they give you a temporary paper when you hand your British License in. However, it means you cannot drive in UK until you get your Spanish one.

But you applied before the end of 202o and transition period while still as EU citizen?

Yes, I appreciate that, just pointing out they take time, so be prepared.

Spain are playing games with the driving deal here, Spanish and other EU citizens have no problem driving, they don't deserve the business here from UK people. They shoot themselves in the foot, in my case stopped me from buying a car, no way going to take a Spanish driving test.

I am not sure that the Spanish have shot themselves in the foot, more the British by voting to leave. In our resort there are as many europeans as Brits, if not more.
