Please can anybody tell me where I can get a PCR test done to fly to UK. Thank you
Hi there. I asked the same question last week. If Spain goes on the green list we plan a flying visit at the end of June. Didn’t really want to travel to Malaga airport from la Duquesa when we are there for only 4 days. I will ask in the local pharmacy otherwise we may have no alternative but to go back to Malaga. Any information to the contrary would be appreciated.

I think you only need an antigen test which I would have thought wiould be more readily available and cheaper than a PCR.:
You must make sure that the test provider you choose can meet the standards for pre-departure testing.
The test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml.
This could include tests such as:
- a nucleic acid test, including a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or derivative technologies, including loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) tests
- an antigen test, such as a test from a lateral flow device
It’s your responsibility to ensure the test meets the minimum standards for sensitivity, specificity and viral load details. You must check with your test provider that it meets those standards.
You may not be able to travel if the test does not meet these standards. It’s your responsibility to ensure you get the right test that meets the above requirements.

Thanks yes it’s a PCR test we need for Ryanair. We have done our research and know that Malaga airport sell these. We were just trying to avoid driving back to Malaga when we’re only going for 4 days in order to get the results back in time to fly. We have lots of lateral flow tests as these are free to us and we are double vaccinated so were hoping there was somewhere we could get them locally.
never mind. Thanks again x

Hi Kathryn
We are due to fly back to UK with Ryanair on 20th June but have not been told that the covid test has to be a PCR test. How did Ryanair inform you of this? (I was only going to get an antigen test done but you may have more information than myself).
The local medical centre to us in Nerja is selling lateral flow (antigen) tests for €35. I've just e mailed them to ensure that this will comply with HM govt. requirements. But if Ryanair insist it has to be PCR then I'll have to think again.

Hi John it was on the Ryanair website. We also have Lateral flow tests and RAT tests acquired free from our pharmacy but reading the website it’s a PCR test they want. At the moment I can only find them available from Malaga airport. If you find out any more we would greatly appreciate you telling us.
Thanks Kathryn

This says you cannot use the NHS tests and that you will need to do the test in Spain but you can use an antigen test.
The medical centre replied promptly to me as follows:
Yes our lateral flow antigen test meets this criteria.(I sent him the requirements from the link above).
We issue you with a flight certificate with all the details described.
The price is 35euros and offer results in 5minutes.
I too don't want to have to make an extra visit to Malaga unless we have to!

Thanks . That sounds more hopeful. I hope Ryanair accepts it too. I’ll ask at our local pharmacy in La Duquesa ( if we get there as it’s still on the amber list)as I’m sure they will be fairly standard x

Hi , we have just booked an appointment at Helicopteros Sanitarious in Peurto Banus for our pcr tests . There is also one in Manilva but it is only open on weekdays . It is 170 euro per test and result by email the next day . We are flying back to the Middle East and are required to get the negative pcr even though we are both fully vaccinated . Hope this helps you and good luck .

If Spain goes on the green list and we can actually go to Spain in the 22nd June would you drop me an email of how things were and what you need on your return to the Uk.?
It would be much appreciated. Thanks Kathryn x
