Hi Linda, sorry can't help with meeting people, we tend to keep ourselves to ourselves.

We do visit Nerja regularly plus nearby villages of Frigliana & Torrox, always plenty of English voices in the restaurants & shops, even now when very few are holidaying from UK.

There are English supermarkets in both Nerja & Torrox Costa (5 miles), they wouldn't be there if there weren't local UK customers. We visit the Torrox one, run by English people. Can't remember if they have a contacts/events notice board but might be a place to start meeting people.

Hi Linda,

I shall take a picture in a few hours from my terrace and you can see the weather and sky. Still sunbathing here.

Kevin.

That will just be " rubbing it in " that it is warmer inland.    Haha.

Linda, I would never do that, well maybe just a little. I spent years visiting Nerja and the surrounding area when I was married with young children and I loved it but recently some parts along the coast started to get some illegal immigrants living there and sleeping rough, also a problem in the cities along the coast. I looked all the way along the coast, from Marbella, (too expensive) to Nerja (too far away). I do travel back to the UK quite often, so being within half an hour's drive was a major consideration in buying a house. I am close enough to the coast to visit but far enough away to avoid the tourists. Only thing that you do need to consider is buying a car to get around. Off to get those pictures.

I am staying at Playazo which is supposed to be less touristy.

My first choice was to stay in north Catalonia which iI have loved since l first went there for a month with my best friend when we were 17 ( so long ago ). I went to Figueres and Cadaques last summer to go to the Dali museum and his coastal house. There were so many times that l wanted to " Oh, look at that " to a friend.

Hi Linda, don't know Playazo, just looked it up. Just to the west of Nerja as I am sure you know.

The whole of eastern Costa del Sol is less touristy than west of Malaga, that's one of the reasons we chose to buy on this side. Sure, some areas more touristy than others, am sure you will enjoy your time here.

Hi

Winter is like two seasons in one day. Early morning and evenings you need a coat and I tend to wear trousers and boots, but it can get up to the low 20s°c during the day. Definitely sun bathing weather. I have been known to change 3 times during a day, depending on what we are doing.

At the moment there is nothing open after 6pm, due to government Covid restrictions, so you wouldn't need to worry too much about evenings, unless where you are staying has no heating. Things will hopefully change, but with so many businesses already closed for the winter, due to lack of tourists, who knows.  We rely on a few electric heaters in our house so by January, we tend to sit in the evenings watching telly with a throw over our legs. Outside temperature can get down.to 8 or 9 °c.

Hope this helps xx

The weather will be mild 16-22°c in the winter. You can see how people are dressed in this video. https://youtu.be/1gkyC4Rb0NY
