Hello.

My name is Linda and l am 76 ( but really young for that number ) and l plan to stay near Nerja from beginning December 2020 to end of February 2021.

I am getting very mixed messages about the weather so am not sure which clothes to bring. ( Normally, l work in The Gambia for the whole of the winter but this year ........)

Anticipating some help from those who live in the area.

Thank you.

Thank you

Hi Linda, we're in Algarrobo, about 12 miles from Nerja, again on the coast. We were here for a month from mid January this year. Temperature was around 9C early morning, rising to at least 15C sometimes higher in the afternoon. Expect some rain. From previous trips I would say this temperature is typical. The temp on the coast doesn't drop as low as inland. Clothes for a UK Autumn I would say.

You can buy extra clothes here fairly cheaply if you find that you haven't brought the right stuff

Hi Linda,

Good to know you are keeping active and you are so lucky not to look your age. Let me assure you that the weather is fantastic. It is still in the low 90's today.

Hi Linda, must admit I was surprised at "90's" in Antequera, although its 30miles inland so maybe warmer than on the coast.

We have been in Algarrobo for 5 weeks now, temperature in low 20's most days, with the hottest getting to 26C, and only 1 day below 20, when it rained all day and I think got to high teens temperature. (The only daytime rain we've had, rained a couple of times at night)

Forecast for Nerja hovers around 20C for the next week, you can expect gradual cooling towards January/February

Thank you Andrew. This sounds right. Hadn't looked up Antequera so didn't realise it is inland.

Did you see my post about making contacts when l am in Nerja ? any ideas ?

Linda

Hi Linda, Places like Archidona and Antequera are inland and get their weather from the Granada region because of the mountains separating them from Malaga. In these places there are ex-pat communities that are very active all year round. Coastal towns and cities have seasonal changes, often very busy during the summer months and very quiet during winter. The inland towns and cities are far more stable in their activities because people live there all year round. One issue with Nerja, is that it is 78KM away from the airport and quite isolated once you are there. Have a look at the inland area around Malaga, you will never be lonely.

Hi Linda,

I shall take a picture in a few hours from my terrace and you can see the weather and sky. Still sunbathing here.

As l have an affinity with water, l have already booked to stay in Nerja.

Thank you for the info. Maybe l will be lucky and find someone to chat with.
