Can anyone personally recommend a decent English speaking tax advisor who would be able to give advice on preparing to move to Spain from the UK? I understand the fiscal tax years are different and I don’t want to get unduly caught out by selling my house in the UK to move out here and then finding out I have to pay tax on the income from my house sale.

Link above English accountant Spain, they also deal with resident applications - Tax year Spain runs 12 months from 1st Jan, note once a resident, tax on all UK (or world income) due in Spain. There is a double tax agreement, but taxes higher here, plus allowance much lower, so unlikely no tax due. You are correct to be cautious.

Thanks David. That’s helpful, and good to know I am aiming in the right direction!
Have you had experience of Blevins Franks? Just don’t want to be hassled by them if we get any free advice. I tend to think nothing in life is ‘free’, but perhaps that’s my inner pessimist!!

Yes a lot of experience, give you plenty of expert advise free, based the hope in doing so they will at some point they will be able to help with future investments and things like transporting a private pension.

Very wise of you to check.
Need to make sure that the date you sell your house means that any profit is not taxable by the Spanish tax man, or you may have a big tax bill to pay.
I believe some people thought that their sale fell outside the spanish tax rules, only to find that it didn't.
