Hi Jan I obtained my residential in Jan and yes I had to prove I had a 1000 at least going into my bank every month. I had to get a letter from my bank with a branch stamp on it. If you do not have your S1 yet, you have to obtain private health over and they want to see a copy of the health insurance policy.

I hope you get what you want. I love living here and it is easy to live simply and happily as it is to live expensively. It’s really your choice.

I have residency and was never asked for proof of any deposit. I have my NIE number and I use local facilities like the medical centre and dentist.

Hello

I have sold my house in the UK and will be moving to Spain in approximately 8/10 weeks.

I want to rent and keep money in the bank as I am 60 and don't have a pension for 6 years.

I would like to be in Velez-Malaga, Alcausin, Vinuela or Periana area which are familiar to me.  Can anyone tell me or advise me if you know the best agents for these areas and is it cold in winter in these areas.

Thanking you in advance.

Debra

Hi

I move to Spain in March 2020 I have bought a house and not due to retire until 2024 I have just got my residency and because I owned a house fully paid for I did not have to prove income I do have funds to fund my life until I receive my state pension it’s not been as straight forward as I thought but using the right company to sort things for you I feel is the way to do it

hi.  If you apply for residency you need to show that you have a minimum of 11,500 euros available (for a couple) when you apply.   You also need to get private health insurance, which will cost about 60 euros a month per person.   Good luck!

Could you please advise where one can buy private health insurance and how to become a resident.

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know my experience. I too am relocating to Spain this year. My lawyer thought that you needed to have a regular income to become a resident but she found out, on our behalf, that it depends on which area you live in. As it turn out, our region, if you own a property outright you need 8,000 euros in the bank but do not need an income. Of course you still need medical insurance. So therefore it depends where you are relocation to.

I never got asked for any of this when I gained residency. I used an abogado who handled everything. Cost about £200.

Hi,

As a rule of thumb, it is less than half the cost of living in the UK. Electricity is cheaper, as is the gas used here to heat rooms and houses, usually about 17 Euros every 3-4 weeks. Food is about half the price in the UK and alcohol much cheaper, although there are more expensive items dependi...

I wouldn't agree with the house price comment, that varies hugely.

I would say good UK suburb (not London)/is compatible with Estepona.

If you compare London with the Alicante area then yes, Spain seems cheap.

Overall I find CDS surprisingly expensive

Not sure what CDS is, never used that acronym. I find house prices much cheaper than major cities in the UK. Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham are all much more expensive for what you get. I have a recently modernised 4 bedroomed house in a large village in the Malaga area and it cost 150,000 Euros, a lot cheaper than those cities that I used to work in
