Hi everyone.  We are going to nerja in August for a week and can't decide between San juan de Capistrano or Capistrano village. We stayed in the village before when our daughter was 1 and really liked it. This time our son and daughter will be 7 and 4. We have found a beautiful apartment on airbnb that has access to he pool etc at San juan or we can go back to the capistrano village. Any info on San juan would be much appreciated and comparisons of the two. Thank you.

Good morning.

My wife and I have owned a property on El Capistrano Village for 25 years and return every year for at least 3 months. We also have very good friends who live on San Juan de Capistrano, so know that quite well.

The main reason we prefer El Capistrano, is the easier access to it from town. If you are walking back from town to El Capistrano , it is far less hilly, than the extra climb up to San Juan. There are also three swimming pools, rather than two and the communal gardens are a joy all year round.

Having said that, San Juan, does seem to have a more vibrant and younger age feel to it and the swimming pool is complimented by a lovely restaurant and a newly opened Cocktail bar on the roof.

There is also an excellent very good value bus service that runs to both villages from Nerja central, so if you are able to work round those, the extra climb to San Juan, is not an issue.

Whichever one you choose, have a wonderful time.
