We have been coming to Nerja for many  years on holiday. We bought an a apartment and refurbished it and its now ready to occupy.  In late October time we intend travelling by ferry from UK to Nerja and to stay for a few months, all subject to abiding by any restrictions etc. Its our first time staying for a longer period, we are currently going through all the legal process in Spain to register etc. One question I would like to ask of the people who stay on a longer term basis is about medical insurance cover, how does it work for long term stays. I would like to have some information before I contact my current travel insurers.  I would appreciate if you can share any experience and or advice you have in this area. I know Covid may be a problem and Brexit on 31/12, will probably pose other problems as well.

I would appreciate you help in this matter.

Thank You

Steven

Hi Lynne

We also travelled down to Nerja recently and are staying for the winter months.  We were advised that our EHIC card would cover us for any health issues including covid) and that it would also be valid after 31 December 2020 if you are already in Spain before that date.  Hope this assists.

Hi, Thanks for asking, we had to change our plans for now but looking forward to going over soonest. Sounds like a good idea to rent for a while it  gives a  fuller picture and chance to look around. I'm not sure if there are many  B & Bs about  in the same way as uk/Ireland so that would be interesting, Ive also noticed it busier in the winter period now, last Dec/Jan was, so plenty of business there. We have always had reasonable weather in the off season but there are lots of people that stay for the whole winter period, and say its good. I's sure someone on here will tell you more about this if you put a post up. Again a question on here may give you advice on length of stay, we have looked on the relevant web sites for this information but not for Ireland, it may be same as UK. Good Luck with you new adventure.
