You will need: NIE number, full name and D.O.B, email address, Spanish contact number, Full UK driving licence number, province/city in which you want to make the exchange.
When you call DGT on 060...
An automated voice will ask what is the purpose of your call
You need to say CANJE PERMISO BRITANICO
Then they'll give you some speech and several options...Press 1 or say BRITANICO.
Then some more speech and you wait...
Then there is a normal phone ring normally once or twice then either of 2 things happen...
A- There is a different ringtone (like an old or distant tone) and you are put through to someone. Everyone I have spoken to at DGT are absolutely LOVELY and very helpful.
B- There is some speech telling you that the lines are busy and you need to call back later.
Leave it a couple of minutes and call them back.
