We are due to arrive in Spain on the 30th December for a 3 month winter stay. We will be driving from Bilbao to Nerja but am finding it very difficult to get information about travel permissions. We are told there are travel restriction but they differ in different regions. We are coming from Ireland and will do what needed for health requirements, can anyone advise if driving through Spain possible.

Thanks

Neilb

Hi I’ve traveled from wales last week, sailed from Portsmouth to Santander then drove 10 hours to costa del sol NO sign of any road blocks/checks.As I was returning to my place of residence was allowed to TRANSIT through different provinces, However if your going to a property for 3 months is this a holiday home because if it is I’m sure your unable to travel through provinces for purposes of holidays

Hope this helps you and good luck

Might be able to help traveling from Ireland from the republic or North? If republic check car insurance it's normally 60days max don't now why could never find out and no insurance company in Spain would insure an Irish plated car in Spain. Just check. Anyways you are still in the EU after the the 31st  so if stopped just flash  the Irish passports. But check your car insurance  best of luck

Regards Geoff

You will need a negative Covid test done less than 72 hours before arriving in Spain.

Currently, and up until the 6th January, different autonomous communities have different rules for movement, but most seem to restrict it to just going to visit family and friends, not to go on holiday. Whether you get caught will depend on the Guardia and where they do checks. The fines are heavy.

We do not know what restrictions will be in place after 6th January yet, that will depend on the situation at that time.

we are going from Rosslare, but may not be possible if travel restrictions in autonomous regions remain.

I was speaking to a friend that lives in.la noria nerja and he said it is forbidden to leave the axarquia region..and I think you have to own a property there to get there to stay
