driving down from the UK in October

Most places are safe if you are sensible. Keep your distance, avoid pubs and clubs and wear a mask. Restaurants are fine. 

Hi we stay in law palmeras too..you can park across the road as long as you like..but there are restrictions on this side..I have seen the pickup truck taking cars away from nearside of the road..I doubt there be a feria this year..we have cancelled for Sept and oct we had edificio sevilla..I hear there were 28 cases in nerja last week..

Good luck with Brittany Ferries. They have taken £963 from me, because I can't travel because of the current circumstances. OK I booked the so called economy fare saying no refunds, but who could have foreseen Covid?

I feel I am putting my life at risk, if I travel, but Brittany are not interested. I am nearly 70 so vulnerable. Also £963 is more than a months pension. I am far from the only person who feel ripped off, Brittany must have made hundreds of thousands from their cancellation policy, if not millions.

I think travelling on Brittany Ferries must be a miserable experience with having to wear masks ( which causes me real problems. I like to be able to breathe), no self service, their over priced cabins with hard beds!

Anyway hope your trip, should it go ahead is a good experience. All the best.

If you back out on a whim you will not get a refund. I am travelling at age 74, no worries if you are sensible. Wearing a mask is very sensible. As a seasoned traveller I am used to difficulties arising. Relax and enjoy your journey always.

It's interesting how people jump to conclusions assuming everybody is in the same boat as themselves, so Petert I will go into more detail. Firstly I did not cancel my trip to the UK on a whim. I live in Spain & I was going back to England for 5 weeks August into September. During that time I was due to take a cruise from Southampton which was cancelled, secondly not living in the UK where would I quarantine exactly? Lastly you may not have a problem with a mask, but I do & have been to my Doctor about this & have a note. I know I am not the only one who finds breathing useful. So please think before you criticize.

Feria is cancelled.... Don't know where you got figure of 28, utter nonsense. Parking will be a lot easier this year and wearing masks outdoors is commonsense approach, balanced against a lovely town and great weather, no brainer. Enjoy

Thanks for all the varied information, particularly re parking. If there is no fair we may well use the big car park. I know it's a bit of a rip off, think it was around 110Euros a month last May, about £3.00 a day then!!

Always a problem parking down near Las Palmeras, although sometimes OK round the corner nearer the Riu hotel.

I'm ok with coming, my wife is still a bit 50/50, hopefully things will be better by the beginning on October. ( we come from 9/10 to 4/11 !!) UK may have lifted the red flag for Spain by then!!

I do tend to wear a mask in confined spaces, & maybe in crowded streets for limited periods as I do have respect for others. However if I'm in am open area with no one within 2 metres I take my mask off (I have a Doctor's note), but when you are away from others with no danger of infection what is the point of mask wearing apart from it being a handy income stream for the Police?

Keep safe obviously, but people have to have respect for the law. This wearing masks at all times is just an excuse for the Police to throw their weight around, & oh boy don't some of the upholders of law & order love it! The previous regime was sensible about wearing a mask if you couldn't socially distance, but now it's stupid. It's a case of Politicians being seen do be "doing something". I think there are a lot of panic measures that have been introduced I have seen 2 Policemen in a car without masks. Maybe they were from the same household?

Also the jury is still out about masks, some reports saying they do more harm than good.

Hopefully if someone replies to this please note I am really saying if you are nowhere near anybody then it's a ridiculous law. To repeat I get wearing masks in enclosed area or crowded areas even if the jury is still out about that also. People should be treated as adults as far as safety is concerned. I feel parts of the world have turned into Police State with freedoms gone & we should be concerned about that, but I think the fear factor has in certain cases let Politicians get away with murder.
