Just wanted to warn everyone that our car was stolen from the large  Malaga hospital car park on Thursday evening, don't know what time this happened as my husband was visiting me in the hospital.  This afternoon a lady visiting in the next room to me overheard us talking about this and came to tell us the same thing had happened to her.  As you can imagine this has caused a great deal of upset and inconvenience to both of us having to hire a car as the insurance company require 28 days before they can do anything in case the car turns up. There is also the loss of things that may have been left in the car we had ledt 2 jacjets the lady had left her phone.  When people are in hospital that is enough stress without some low life thinking it an ideal opportunity to help themselves, how they broke in is a complete mystery  but just thought I'd post this to warn others. The hospital car park is massive and it is a right job finding a spot in the first place so please be aware.

I'm not saying that this is what happened as obviously I don't know but vehicle break in's these days are often done remotely by blocking remote locking as you walk away from your car using jamming software. This is nearly always done in line of sight although most people walk away, lock remotely, hear the beep and keep walking. A top tip is to keep your eyes open for anyone looking/acting/watching suspiciously but more importantly, where possible, to manually lock the car. Unlock remotely but lock manually wherever you can. And obviously keep any valuables out of sight and in the boot. Most of these types of thefts are done within moments of the driver walking away from the car. It's a tough lesson to learn and we all learn it the hard way sadly.... Hospital car parks are ideal as drivers are invariably already distracted and, of course, it's almost a given that drivers won't return to their cars quickly as they will be visiting patients or going to appointments so by the time that they realise the theft and report it the car or items stolen are long gone....

Thank you for your interesting reply, however our car was manually locked so they must have forced the lock, however we are not sure how they started the engine but needless to say our car has never been found.  We feel the best deterent is a hefty chain through the stering wheel to some fixed point in the car, another thing don't leave anything valuable including the car documents (as the police advise) in the car, you will need the documents to make a claim luckily we had copies of them at home.

Thank you for these interesting  articles it's hard to believe that people will steal from patients on hospital wards, our car was stolen from Mallaga hospital car park, needless to say it has never been found, so best be aware wherever you park.
