Hi, not sure that you can register for healthcare or residencia until you get here. But there is someone at Saydo who could help you if you are buying there. I would contact her. Her name is Bambi and she is in charge of the sales I think. Your Irish passport should definitely help you as you are European already.

Hi Lorraine thanks for for your reply. I checked out the british gov web site and it sets out  four steps to take .you can start here with an s1 form then it's another few steps in spain. When you move you have a few months to start the ball  rolling.  As you say we can get help from staff at saydo.also  our state pensions will be paid by the UK gov and it can go to uk/ or spainish  bank. Looks like spain and uk will agree on the over 65 health care staying as it is after the transition  period.  We are probably  luckiest living  in ni  as we can have duel citizen ship. Do you live over there?

Hi, yes we rent in the village of Mollina. We have kept our UK banks plus opened a Spanish account in Caixa bank. We then just transfer money over as and when we need it or if the exchange rate is pretty good.

Morning Lorraine  it's great to talk to someone  who lives  in mollina. When we move to saydo, probably  to a new static  we will need all the usual  stuff to settle in ,IE kitchen appliances,  bedding, deck chairs  etc .is there somewhere  local to buy all this ? If bought  in ,say one store would they deliver  to saydo?  Out son will join us on first week as he drives ( we dont) to help with above. I know there is a free bus twice a week  from saydo to the village and the large town.  One more question is there an English  /irish pub or restaurant  in mollina? All advise very welcome  thanks george

Hi George, there is a big supermarket in Antequera called Carrefour that you can buy just about everything for your home re electrics ect. There is what we call the ‘chino’s’ in Mollina itself. They are everywhere inSpain. Big shops run by Chinese that sell everything cheap. But you do have to be careful re quality of stuff, but great for crockery, pots/pans, basic stuff all homes need. There are lots of smaller family run shops you can get bargains in if you shop around and of course the weekly markets. There is a mainly English market held on a Wednesday at Saydo itself. Some Spanish stalls but not a lot. A local Spanish market in the village itself on a Tuesday morning. Great fruit/veg stall there plus other stuff. A huge local market at Antequera on a Tuesday morning, sells all sorts of stuff, great bargains. And there are others dotted about the area, not sure of their times/days.

There is two English bars/restaurants in the town. Margaritas and Bar Flores. Opposite ends of town, both good and both have websites/Facebook pages. There is an ‘Irish’ pub called PepeJohns in the village, but it’s Spanish owned. Nice and quirky inside, lots of Brits go there as they do Karaoke twice a week. Join What’s on in Mollina page and you will see what’s going on, here and in surrounding villages.

good luck with your move xx

Hi Lorraine  hope I'm not brothering  you to much! Would you think it's important  to have central heating  in the mobile. I see it gets cold in jan/ feb at night. The cost to have it installed  is £1900 .I was wondering  if it's worth it maybe electric  blanket   would do for the few months. Of course we will need aircon but does that have heating as well? . It's a big move so want to get it right.thanks

Hi George, you will definitely need heating of some description, we have a log fire, aircon that blows out hot air as well and a gas heater. But we do live in a large house that is freezing cold in winter. Not sure about a park home, but if you are buying the mobile home types (caravan), would imagine them getting very cold. Better to ask someone who lives in one though, sorry.
