I would like to know if British expats who are living in Spain are covered regarding health services etc. What is the cost of a Dr,s   visit and if you had a serious illness what is the procedure regarding hospitalisation etc.

Hi there,

Your EHIC will cover you until Brexit. If you are of state pensionable age, the S1 will cover you, although that is not a given once the Brexit transition has ended.

This will give you accurate and up to date information, although there's plenty of other sites for more specific searches.

Hi, we are currently living in Portugal and have residence here so we are covered for medical treatment. I was looking to find out if

it was the same system in Spain as we are thinking of relocating to one of the residential mobile home sites in the area.

Up until Brexit, it's the same all over the Europe. So, who knows how long we've got before it changes hahaha!

You will qualify for health care for free is over 65 at the moment. Will soon be raised to 67. If you are not that ancient and married to a pensionista and i do mean married, you will be its dependant and also free healthcare. However i have just had 8 items on prescription and been v v ill and paid 17€. If you dont want to be dependent take out private healthcare.
