I am looking for a car importservice; to take away the hassle of importing a car. I will drive the car to Spain, and I am looking for a company can put the car on a Spanish licence. I have contacted a few through internet but they do not reply; they seem to be out of business. I am a Dutch citizen, live in the Netherlands, have a NIE, not a permanent residence in Spain, own an apartment where I will park the car. The car is a Dutch licened (EU licenced) LHD model. Any tips welcome.

Thes people might help https://upsticks.es/spanish-car-registration/

You could be advised to sell the car in the UK, it can all be a nightmare, made worse by not being in the EU.

The car has to be adapted, like lights, further the second you have a Visa like a NLV it's illegal to drive on UK plates, Spanish residents are not allowed to drive cars on foreign plates, did you also know UK licence only valid for 6 months? So far, no deal to swap and people need a new driving test - link    https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/uk-drving-licence-exchange-20220805122649-nt.html

In my case shipped car back to UK, it was all a hassle, now walk and use taxi's I'm not taking a Spanish test, not easy, when and if a deal finally done, I will just buy a Spanish car. Research very carefully before you bring a UK car here.

If you have twitter, see updates on driving here ..  https://twitter.com/HughElliottUK/status/1548001699591098370?s=20&t=m3n4ZMUNoXFAHdzRvgozuQ

Sorry my info was not complete, will add it now; I am a Dutch citizen, live in the Netherlands, have a NIE not a permanent residence in Spain, own an apartment where I will park the car. The car is a Dutch licened (EU licenced) LHD model. I jave contacted Del but I have the feeling they only do UK registered cars since he asked me questions that do not concern.

Not sure why you are posting on a British Forum the rules for us are not the same, we are no longer EU citizens.

I don't believe this forum is only for

" British people " athough the majority of patrons browsing and participating in this particular forum seem to hail from the U.K. and Ireland.

Hence most of the advice or knowledge base reflects this.

Holaitsdavid has a wealth of knowledge and is indeed a very helpful member.

In your particular case it may be prudent to speak with a car sales person in and around Marbella...they should know the nuances of such matters as they would likely have carried out this process or at least point you in the right direction.

Sorry I can't be of more help for now someone else with more knowledge or indeed a contact may be along soon.

Welcome to the Forum, perhaps one day one might need to export a vehicle to the Nederlands where the knowledge may be reciprocated.

I apologise, I did not read all your first post "I am a Dutch citizen, live in the Netherlands". At least you won't face many of the problems us British do now, 'good luck', I'm sure will not be too difficult.

Hi Ffpbar,

I am a Brit living in Germany. I have very recently driven my car to Estepona with the intention of changing the licence plates from German to Spanish. Like you, I will probably have someone to do this. Here are a couple of links about the process.

I am not focusing too much on the registration at present because on the way down we were robbed on the motorway, credit cards debit cards passports Aufenthaltstitel etc etc.
