Hi

It’s not difficult you just need to get a bit of help ..

We used a company called lifestyle in la Cala behind supersol , Sam there told us everything we need to know and he will do you a package and help you for about £350

You can have your pension transferred etc and you need to show bank statements etc to show you can take care of yourself financially over here .. you can get free healthcare here too if you get residency which he will help with .. you need an S1 form from the Uk to start with .. ring us on07725869407 if u want any more help ..

Jean and Tony xx

Jean pye I found your advice very helpful and positive , I'm also hoping to purchase this year and in la Cala . My question is would you recommend renting first in this area .

I would if I was you, just to see how things go!

Things will be about the same as they were at the moment but in jan next year it will change..

You will need residency if you want to live here after 90 days ,and that will take your right to U.K. medical away as such except in an emergency ,if you did want to return ..so see how you go

What changes does anyone envisage with regard to getting a residency after the 1st of January 2021.

We have just recently started toying with the idea and dont really have much idea of anything!

I think it will be more difficult,I’ve read you can apply for a year, then 2 years later and finally after 5 yrs for full residency ,it’s best to do it now or before Dec to get it fully

At the moment Uk citizens have until the 31/12/12 to obtain residency under eu rules. After this date nothing has been announced yet but it is expected that the requirements will be much stricter and similar to those as they are now for other 3rd countries.  So much higher income requirements and possibly the need to obtain work visas etc.  Anyone who is retired in the Uk can apply for an s1 and obtain state health care here at the moment, those moving after the 31/12/12 this may not be possible.  If you are working here employed or self employed you get health cover through the state.  If not you will require private health care.
