Hi Nigel
just one thing and I’m not sure you can help and your post is very informative and just what we have been looking for in regards to our proposed retirement to Spain.
do you know if only one person needs to apply for the Non lucrative Visa as it states
You may bring your spouse and dependent children with you.
I’m not sure if both of us need to apply or just myself.

Hi John
It looks like each family member has to complete a separate application for this type of visa. See link to pdf document
Good Luck

Word of warning
Any lump sums from pensions are taxable in Spain whereas 25% is tax free in uk so plan carefully
See the best way to transfer the money ie using FX company to get the best exchange rate and also see any charges the Spanish bank may incur
you need to research and do this in the the optimum way and before you take up residency in Spain
