We have just purchased a place in Mijas and our lawyer has changed the electricity supplier from Endesa to Fenie.  We have not yet stayed in the property and have received 2 bills covering a six week period, (total 100 euros) when the property was empty.  I know that there will be a standing charge as in UK but this seems a bit excessive.  "Fenie is the cheapest supplier, does not ask you to sign a contract for a year and it is easy  to change to another supplier" was the reason for the initial change from Endesa. Anybody with Fenie?  What is the average standing charge for electricity and water per month? Is it as easy as we have been led to believe to choose another supplier and move to them.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not sure about the charge for those weeks, could here have been anything outsatnding the last owner? Some links below but first states,  Fenie Energía, the most expensive; Cepsa, the most economical, according to a Facua study.

I was getting hiher bills , but mine were estimated because I had a lightening strike when I was not in Spain. I took the fuse out so it would not strike up the main from the sub station. then endesa put a smart meter in which needed the meter to be read vie sel call . had larger bills, but got friend to put fuse back in , now aprrox 12 euro per month.. Cheers Ian Almogia Arrived 2nd May ,Back to UK Tuesday  10  after 2 Years lock down.
