I read that Spain has removed the wealth tax requirement for ex pats.  Does anyone know what is the situation?

Yes they have removed the Wealth Tax in Andalucia.  You can find it in the online news.  Great news all around.  Not just ex-pats but for residents who have more than a certain EURO in assets globally.

But does this include Spanish property owners who are not resident please?

You ONLY pay wealth tax if you are a resident (well No Wealth Tax for Andalucia anymore !!).  No resident - No personal tax liabilities.

Property ownership has different tax liabilities.  Only residency status (anywhere) gives you the privilege of paying personal income tax.  LOL

Ah, I see. I am a non resident owner but still pay an annual personal tax that I refer to (maybe mistakingly) as wealth tax. It’s based on what we pay in annual council charges which is calculated on what the council think we might earn as rental income (none for me!)

seems I’m not off the hook then!
